His publicist company, Viewpoint, based in the US, confirmed the BBC of his pἀssing without providing any other information. He was reportedly hospitalized during filming on the Italian island of Ischia, though the cause of death is unknown.

Stevenson was motivated to pursue acting after seeing John Malkovich perform in a play at a London West End theater. His first television role was in the Catherine Cookson drama The Dwelling Place. He studied acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Later, he made numerous TV appearances in British productions, such as Waking the Deἀd, Dalziel and Pascoe, and At Home with the Braithwaites. He portrayed a knight in the high-profile Hollywood production King Arthur, starring Keira Knightley, in 2004.

More recently, Stevenson was cast in popular US-produced TV shows and films, playing the parts of Titus Pullo in HBO’s historical drama series Rome and Volstagg in the Thor trilogy. The new Disney+ series Star Wars: Ashoka will feature him as Baylan Skoll.
