Southern Depression Nicole interfered with NASA and SpaceX’s preparations to fly their 26th commercial resupply services mission to the International Space Station, causing them to postpone the launch date until Nov. 21.
Elon Musk, the entrepreneur and new owner of Twitter, and SpaceX had planned to launch their Dragon cargo spaceship from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on November 18 but now that Tropical Depression Nicole has arrived, they are looking at a date no early than November 21.

Nicole, a Category 1 hurricane according to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, made landfall just south of Vero Beach, Florida.

Tropical Depression Nicole has also been a problem for coastal flooding. In fact, on Thursday morning, one NOAA tidal gauge in Port Canaveral, Florida, recorded a surge of 3.6 over the typical high tide.
The tropical storm had sustained winds of 40 mph on Thursday evening, and its centre was 40 miles southeast of Tallahassee, Florida.
