“With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius,” Duggan wrote on Twitter. “RIP Lanny.”

Lanny Poffo was a professional wrestler from Canada and the United States who was most known for his ring name, “Leaping” Lanny Poffo. He passed away on February 2, 2023, at the age of 68, having been born on December 28, 1954. 1974 was the year that the wrestler made his debut on the professional scene with the All-South Wrestling Alliance.

After more than a decade had passed, in 1985, he became a member of the World Wrestling Federation and adopted the ring name “Leaping Lanny Poffo.” In later years, he became known as “The Genius” in the wrestling arena because of his habit of donning a graduation cap and gown when competing against other wrestlers.
