The Witcher Season 3’s teaser trailer has premiered on Netflix. Netflix has succeeded with the two-part premiere of new seasons of other hit shows, including “Stranger Things” and “You.” Season 3 also marks Henry Cavill’s last appearance as the heroic monster hunter Geralt of Rivia before Liam Hemsworth takes over.
The trailer hints at what’s to come for Geralt, Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), and Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), who has become a target for numerous groups across The Continent due to her rising prominence. While the show’s trademark magic and action will undoubtedly return, the teaser also teases a more vulnerable side of Geralt. The third season was inspired by Sapkowski’s The Witcher 2: Time of Contempt.
Series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Netflix Tudum-
“For years, Geralt has claimed neutrality, shunned politics and publicly asserted that witchers don’t have emotions — all to make his life as a killer easier to navigate. We’ve seen him battle monsters and monstrous humans and watched as he’s hardened himself to survive. He can no longer do that this season.”

Henry Cavill’s decision to not return for future seasons of The Witcher last year dismayed the show’s many devoted viewers. At the time, Cavill also indicated he would return to his role as Superman in the DCEU, but that never happened either, as the series went differently under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Cavill was suddenly without his two most famous creations among his audience.
