The person who k!lled Nipsey Hussle by shooting him has been given a 60-year prison sentence. Eric R Holder Jr. got his sentence for k!lling the Grammy-nominated musician in 2019 on February 22.

Holder was also found guilty of two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a gun because he sh0t at two other men at the scene and hit them. A brief history of Nipsey Hussle’s life and the murder trial that followed follows.

Who was Nipsey Hussle?

Nipsey Hussle was born in Los Angeles in 1985. His name at birth was Airmiess Joseph Asghedom. His stage name is a play on the name of an American comedian, Nipsey Russell, and a friend gave it to him because he liked how hard he worked and how he “hustle.”

Hussle put out his first mixtape on his own in 2005. In 2008, he put out the first of two mixtapes called Bullets Ain’t Got No Name.

Do you know that Derek Chauvin, a disgraced ex-police officer, admitted to hiding tens of thousands of dollars from the state when he pleaded guilty to tax fraud in Minnesota? In a Minnesota court, he pleaded guilty to two counts of not paying taxes in front of Washington County Judge Sheridan Hawley:

After that, he became more well-known, and in 2010, he put out the first of his The Marathon mixtapes. Hussle’s first studio album, Victory Lap, was up for a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2019, but it lost to Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy.

How did he die? Hussle was sh0t at least 10 times on March 31, 2019, outside of his Los Angeles store, Marathon Clothing. Two other people were hurt in the incident, but they got better.

At 3:55 p.m., his de@th was confirmed. His partner, the actor Lauren London, and his two children will miss him. He was 33 years old.

The Daily Beast saw an autopsy report that said the rapper was sh0t in the head, chest, back, abdomen, left and right thighs, big toe, and right elbow. The LA Coroner’s Office confirmed that the gunshot wounds to his head and body were the cause of his de@th.

What Has Happened Thus Far in the Murder Trial?

Holder Jr.’s trial for Hussle’s murder began in June of last year, with prosecutors describing him as an enraged acquaintance from the same street group as Hussle.

During Holder Jr.’s trial in 2022, the jury heard from eyewitnesses and saw footage from local businesses’ surveillance cameras that showed his arrival, the shooting, and his departure.

The lawyer for the defense even admitted that Holder Jr. had sh0t Hussle, but he said the k!lling wasn’t planned and that it happened in the “heat of passion.”

The defense attorney says that right before Hussle died, Holder Jr. talked to Hussle about rumors he had spread about Holder Jr. in the neighborhood, saying that Holder Jr. had snitched and helped the police.

After the conversation, Holder Jr. went to his car, loaded a gun, and then went back to talk to Hussle. Holder Jr. was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison on February 22, more than six months after a jury in Los Angeles found him guilty of first-degree murder.

He was also found guilty of two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a gun because he sh0t at two other men who were at the scene and hit them, but they lived.

The sentencing was delayed in part so that Holder’s lawyer, Aaron Jansen, could try to get Holder’s conviction changed to manslaughter or second-degree murder. In December, Superior Court Judge H Clay Jacke rejected Jansen’s request.
