The Witcher has emerged as one of the most successful series in recent years and it is manifested by the fact that we have an anime prequel amongst many many spin-offs in the production pipeline.
The fantasy world created by Andrej Sapkowski is breaking records on daily basis and is earning various awards and appreciation internationally and that too in quick succession.
The madness and commercial success of the series can be seen by the fact that even before the arrival of the second season of the show, Netflix already made the official announcement of its third installment.

The Witcher season 3 Release Date
The third season was announced in the TUDUM event of Netflix which was held in September 2021. The second installment of the show was released nearly about 2 years after the first season, due to COVID-related issues and the injury that Henry Cavill got during the sets of the series.
The production however is not in a mood to wait for such a long period and wishes to monetize on the popularity as soon as it can and hence we will be seeing the third season by the end of 2022 or the early months of 2023, this will not change most probably, however in case of any change, we will be updating it here.
The Witcher Season 3 Cast
Our protagonist will be assisted by numerous actors who may have a short role but have a strong screen presence and some of the roles which are confirmed are:

Spoilers ahead, if you already watched the season, you would have this knowledge that Emhyr, Ciri’s father has come back from the dead. Hence we expect a big and substantial to be played by him in the third installment of the series and given the ending of season 2, we do not expect a positive role of him and expect that a big storm has arisen with his return.
What is also worth noting is that the makers have substantially made the numbers go up, as far as the cast is concerned, in the second season, and hence they are expected to tread the same path for season 3 also.
The Witcher Season 3 Plot
If you have already seen season 2, you would know the highly heated events that concluded the second season. Ciri’s character was portrayed as being the destroyer of the world and we expect that events will take up from this point, and the episodes of season 3 will explore Ciri’s destiny.
The dark forces are well-aware of the power that the princess holds and are in desperate want of wielding that power to their advantage. But in all this chaos we have a silver lining and that is our heroes, Geralt and Yennefer who are by the side of the princess and are expected to bring all the devilish plans of the adverse forces to a stand-still.
One of the makers of the series, Hissrich has made this statement that the third season will primarily be based on “The Time of Contempt” which happens to be the second book of the Witcher.
In the book, the protagonists Yennefer, Geralt, and Siri take an adventurous journey to the land of Aretuza, where due to a coup is a lot of chaos and this chaos leads to the separation of the three from each other.
However, this narrative is susceptible to change according to the demand and feasibility of the screen and to add some creativity and easter eggs for the fans.
Cavill is an interview has revealed that things go down differently in the third season and are going to be more intense than the previous two seasons and he further said that:
“It’s a fairly extreme set of circumstances to come back from. It’s a tough one to forgive, it’s going to take some real work. The true development of Geralt this season is him being able to recognize that he can’t do this himself.”
During a radio chat show, Freya claimed that she has got her hands at the script of the third season and she can’t keep calm thinking about all the madness and excitement that is to follow and the third one is going to be a great one for the series.
In an interview, Hissrich also told that the season will not be all things good and will witness some deaths too.
What is peculiar that is that a major from the production line is making this statement at a big event so we expect that some major and important characters will depart in season.
But Th witcher has been known to adopt exciting things and we might see more people coming from the dead and whatnot so let’s have a wait and see for ourselves the madness that is to follow in season 3 of the witcher.
