The Terminal List has been available on Prime Video for almost a month, and fans are waiting to hear if there will be a second season. Even though the first season ended with most questions answered, it was based on only one of a series of books by Jack Carr, so fans are eager to see the rest of the books turned into a show.
This would probably start with True Believer, the second book in the series. After the shocking end of season 1, Chris Pratt’s character James Reece is brought back into action unexpectedly. But will the show come back to tell that story, or will questions about Reece’s health and future adventures remain unanswered?
Has the Terminal List Been Renewed for Season 2?
Even though the show hasn’t been officially renewed yet, that doesn’t mean it won’t be back. We’ll keep this page up-to-date as soon as we hear anything about a second season from Amazon Prime Video. We’d probably be getting more if it were up to the people who make the show. David DiGilio, in charge of the show, told ComicBook.com, “Yes, fingers crossed,” that he would like a second season.
He said, “We’re fortunate because Jack [Carr] writes a book yearly, which is a fast rate. We can’t make the shows that fast, so he may be too far ahead of us. I’d say take a short break. But we’re fortunate, and I’d recommend True Believer to anyone who liked the first season. It’s a great book and a great plan for season two.” Chris Pratt told Digital Spy that “it’d be great to keep it going,” so it looks like there is a lot of drive behind the scenes to make it happen.
Jack Carr also seems happy with how his books have been turned into movies. He wrote on Twitter, “Thank you @prattprattpratt for exceeding all my expectations! You CRUSHED IT! We know he would want to see more of “#TheTerminalList,” too.
When Would the Terminal List Season 2 Be Released on Prime Video?
Since the show hasn’t been renewed yet, we don’t know when the second season will come out. But DiGilio said that “a novel a year” is “a little faster than we can make the shows,” so we might have to wait a while. Once the show is officially renewed, we think it will be about a year and a half to two years before we see more, depending on Pratt’s schedule. However, we don’t know for sure, so we’ll have to wait and see.
What Would the Terminal List Season 2 Be About?
Showrunner DiGilio has already said that the second James Reece book, True Believer, will be the “blueprint for season two,” so we know how it will go. The official description of Jack Carr’s book True Believer says, “When a bomb goes off at a holiday fair in London, the number of people killed is horrifying, and the stock market of the whole country goes into a tailspin. It turns out that this is just the start of a coordinated series of murderous attacks on the entire Western world.
“As the chaos spreads and pulls more and more countries into it, the United States goes on the offensive. Who is making things happen? What do they want? And most importantly, how can the attacks be stopped before the bloodshed and economic collapse bring America and its allies to their knees?
“Only one man has a chance of being able to answer these questions. James Reece, a former Navy SEAL, is the only and most crucial link to a mysterious former Iraqi commando who could give the CIA the leads they need so badly. Reece could be the last chance for America. He is also, unfortunately, the most-wanted domestic terrorist in America.
“To control him, a deal is made, and Reece reluctantly becomes a tool of the U.S. government. He travels the world to target terrorist leaders. He uncovers a geopolitical conspiracy involving a traitorous CIA officer and a sinister assassination plot that will have effects worldwide. There is always someone else who believes in something and is willing to kill for it. James Reece will stop him.”
Who Would Be on Season 2 of the Terminal List? Would Chris Pratt Be Back?
As was said above, Pratt has already said he would like to play James Reece again, so it looks like we already have one cast member set. The question is whether any other characters from season 1 will return for more. During Reece’s quest for revenge, a lot of characters die. Katie Buranek, a journalist and friend of Reece, who Constance Wu plays, is still alive at the end of season 1.
She and FBI agents Tony Liddle (JD Pardo) and Mac Wilson could return (Christina Vidal). Taylor Kitsch’s future on the show seems much less confident since the last time we saw his character, Ben Edwards, Reece was pointing a gun at him because of his betrayal, which was now out in the open. Then we heard a gunshot, but we couldn’t see what had happened. Could he have lived in some way? Reece hasn’t been one to change his mind about revenge suddenly, so it seems unlikely, but we can’t completely rule it out.
