Netflix also said in a statement, “we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with the second season of the Society, and I am not ok with this. We are disappointed to have to make these decisions due to two circumstances created by covid, and we are grateful to these creators and all the writers cast and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world.”
The sources also say that due to pandemic balancing, the availability of caste and unexpected budget increases would have been challenging to deal with, leading the creators to cancel the show.
Is there any update on society season 2?
The first season was released on Netflix. However, if Netflix has canceled the show, the creators might look for an alternate show distributor.
As Hollywood has coped up with the pandemic situations and many productions have been started, we anticipate that creators might look into Society season 2 soon. If that happens, we are expecting society season 2 to be released somewhere in 2023.
What is Society all about?
The Society is a teenage drama focusing mainly on the mystery of a lost society. The premise is of the show set in West Ham, Connecticut. The story begins when a group of local high school students returns from their canceled field trip to find out that everyone in their town has disappeared. The show furtherly becomes more complicated as the teenagers could not contact the outside world by telephone or internet. Amid a dense forest, the disappeared Society lies where these teenagers now have to survive alone with limited resources.
At first, the teenagers were glad to see that no one was around and they could be as accessible as they wanted, but reality struck soon as there was no internet to connect the outer world.
At the end of the show, it was realized by the teens that they were stuck in some alternate reality and that they had to find a way to go back to their homes.
The finale was a major cliffhanger because we could not answer if the students could get back to their Society.
Season 2 might be more interesting than season 1 as we would see the teenagers struggling to get back to their homes with more challenges in front of them.
