Selena Gomez has been more forthcoming with her fans about her personal life than other celebrities. Her documentary, My Mind & Me, which is currently available on Apple TV+, delves deeper into her battles with mental health.

But as more information about Selena becomes available, many fans are also curious about her father’s whereabouts and whether they can still communicate. To learn every aspect, continue reading.

What Happened to Selena Gomez Dad?

Selena was born when her mother, Mandy Teefey, was still a teenager, and her father, Ricardo Joel Gomez, separated when she was still quite small. In the 1970s, Ricardo’s parents moved from Monterrey to Texas; they are of Mexican heritage.

Although Selena is delighted to have received some of her Mexican heritage from her father, Mandy is of Italian descent. Selena’s half-siblings are from the remarriages of Mandy and Ricardo, who both eventually had children.

Selena witnessed less of her father than she had as a child because she ultimately moved in with her mother following her parents’ divorce. Even though Ricardo keeps a low profile, the two appear to still be in a relationship.

Therefore, it would seem that Ricardo had no significant events that affected his relationship with Selena. Although Selena occasionally appears on his feed, most of his Instagram photos are about his younger daughter, Victoria. See the post for more details:

Although Selena still appears to spend more time with her mother, it is evident that she also maintains a relationship of some kind with her father.

Did Selena Gomez Have a Good Relationship With Her Dad?

Selena’s father has reportedly been supporting her from the touchline all along, according to his Instagram. Presently, Ricardo married Sara, a well-known person of Mexican and American ancestry. Their 2014-born daughter, Tori, is their child. Selena is good friends with both Ricardo’s current wife and his newborn child.

Selena Threw Herself a Wedding-themed Birthday Party

The documentary has a ton of fascinating new details about Selena’s life, some of which she has also disclosed in interviews to support the movie. Though she would be married by the time she turned 30, which is why she planned a wedding-themed 30th birthday party for herself, is one of the most entertaining revelations.

It appears that Selena invited a diverse group of guests to the celebration, such as Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Camila Cabello. She clarified:

“We had lovely drinks, and it was beautiful, and then my friend Cara [Delevingne] comes in and brings strippers, So I would like to say it was a mixture of sophisticated and hysterical.”

In July, Selena celebrated her 30th birthday and shared a post on Instagram where she looked back on the ups and downs of her 20s. She wrote under two black and white photos from her party:

“My 20s were a journey through good, hard, and beautiful moments that I will never forget, Each of them has shaped me into the person that I am today. I am someone who is still learning, but is more certain about what matters and what she wants. Someone who is grateful for every single gift and every single lesson along the way.”

Mandy is 46 years old and of Italian origin. In 2006, she wed Brian, and the two of them have a daughter named Gracie. Mandy used to be Selena’s manager, and the two of them even own the same production business, which made the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why!

The former stage manager said she’s happy about the lady her daughter has become at the Paw Works Animal Rescue Ties and Tails Gala in October 2022, but she also said she doesn’t feel ready to relive the struggles covered in My Mind & Me. According to ET Canada, she stated:
