In the words of Paul Murdaugh STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, ISLINGTON – On the evening of June 7, 2021, 22-year-old Paul Terry Murdaugh of Hampton, South Carolina, joined his mother, Margaret Branstetter Murdaugh (Maggie), in death.

Paul’s early years were spent exploring the great outdoors with his father, Alex, and brother Buster, and they spent a lot of time hunting at their lodge in Moselle. While a junior at USC, he and his loved ones frequently attended football games to root for the Gamecocks.

Paul had an abundance of friends and never met a stranger. He was the type of person who would jump at the chance to help a stranger. Paul was one of a kind because he had an unmatched combination of warmth and sincerity.

Paul’s heroes in life were his father, Richard Alexander Murdaugh (Alex), and his older brother, Richard Alexander Murdaugh, Jr. (Buster). Paul’s aunts and uncles, Marian Branstetter Proctor (Bart), Lynn Murdaugh Goette (Allen), and many cousins survive him.

His paternal grandparents, Randolph Murdaugh III and Elizabeth Alexander Murdaugh, as well as his maternal grandparents, Terry Lee Branstetter and Kennedy Hubbard Branstetter, are also still alive (Libby, Hannah, Kennedy, Mills, Trey, Reeves, Mary Elizabeth, Caroline, Mary Marvin, Liza Grace, and Randolph).

On June 11 at noon, family and friends will gather in the Hampton Cemetery to remember Paul and Maggie. The Hampton, Virginia, establishment of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is helping the family with funeral preparations.
