The Nigerian Young Professionals Forum (NYPF) has voiced concerns about how the Independent National Electoral Commission will handle the upcoming 2023 elections (INEC).
It questioned the commission about what it claimed were widespread instances of result manipulation around the country, an effort to undermine the will of the Nigerian people who turned out in large numbers to vote in Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to the NYPF, INEC has done a terrible job so far. People’s hopes and trust in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) have gone for naught because the technology is not yet reliable and fully integrated.
It is unseemly for politicians to frighten the people who have decided to exercise their democratic rights, the NYPF said, while condemning incidents of thuggery, ballot box stealing, voters intimidation, and suppression is seen in some states like Lagos, Rivers, and others.
NYPF chairman and former Bayelsa State governorship candidate Moses Siloko Siasia released a statement in which the organization expressed dissatisfaction with the INEC’s technology, including the BVAS and IREV, for failing to meet expectations.
The failure to produce the bare minimum of achievements that reflect the people’s will face fierce resistance, Siasia said, lest anyone try to destroy Nigerians’ desire to rewrite their history.

We are imploring INEC to make amends. Reports of INEC personnel conspiring with party agents and others to circumvent the BVAS or thump print and generate fraudulent results must be put to rest, and those found guilty be punished swiftly.
This bad performance, which can be classified as sabotage and an attempt to subvert the wishes and will of Nigerians, must be tolerated by INEC, which cannot afford to lose the trust and confidence of the people in our electoral system.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must immediately cease additional delays in uploading and announcing all election results nationwide. This unnecessary holdup raises questions about the legitimacy of this election.
Siasia said-
“We stand resolute that our election of 2023 must not only be free and fair but must be seen as being so without any doubts. Hence, we are calling on INEC to quickly do the needful.” Siasia said.
Many people and organizations, including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), doubt the fairness and validity of the upcoming 2023 election, which is being tallied and announced. The NYPF is just one of many that share this view.
