Austin Majors has died. He was best known for being on the TV show NYPD Blue from 1999 to 2004. He had turned 27.

The late actor’s family confirmed his death in a statement on Monday, February 13.

His family told TMZ

“[Austin] was a loving, artistic, brilliant, and kind human being. Austin took great joy and pride in his acting career.”

“He was an active Eagle Scout and graduated salutatorian in high school. He went on to graduate from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a passion of directing and music producing.”

“Austin’s younger sister, Kali, says her fondest memories with Austin were growing up on set with him, volunteering at events with ‘Kids With a Cause,’ and backpacking together. Austin was the kind of son, brother, grandson and nephew that made us proud and we will miss him deeply forever.”

Kali sent a statement to In Touch in which she acknowledged her brother Austin’s passing and mentioned that he had passed away on February 11. In addition, she announced his passing in a post that she made on Instagram on February 12th. Austin, my older brother, has passed away. Last night, he passed away,” she wrote. “It’s so surreal to me still. He was only 27 with so much life left to live.”

Austin was in a few popular TV shows in the late 1990s and early 2000s, in addition to NYPD Blue, which starred Dennis Franz, James McDaniel, Jimmy Smits, and Mark Paul Gosselaar. Some of the most well-known guest roles he has had are on Providence, ER, According to Jim, NCIS, and Desperate Housewives. In 2009, he appeared in an episode of How I Met Your Mother. He was in the TV movies An Accidental Christmas and Night Writer.

Austin was also a voice actor, lending his voice to shows like The Gray Man, American Dad!, The Ant Bully, Hercules, and Treasure Planet.

In the 2000s, Austin not only had a successful acting career, but he also ran a YouTube channel called AwesomePerfected that had parody videos. In a statement to In Touch after Austin’s death, Kali said, “There’s some pretty funny stuff on there that’s been bringing a smile to our faces,” She also said that some of her late brother’s work can be found on their other YouTube channel, AKMajors.
