Muv-Luv Alternative Season 2 Release Date Status 2022 (UPDATED JULY 2022)

Adapted from a visual novel, Muv-Luv Alternative’s second season is an anime series in its own right. Muv-Luv Alternative Season 2 Storyline

The visual novel Muv-Luv is divided into two parts. In the Windows version, Takeru Shirogane, a playable character, wakes up to find a beautiful young woman sleeping on his bed, just as an angry Sumika Kagami, Takeru’s neighbor, and childhood friend, arrives at his door to wake him up that morning.

Even though Takeru is a man, Sumika is a woman. As seen in the first episode, Meiya Mitsurugi is the heir apparent of a well-to-do family. He is eager to marry Takeru. Throughout the story, Takeru is torn between the two women, and he has dreams about a promise he made to one of them: that he would marry her.

He initially mistook the female for Sumika, but upon closer inspection, he realized it was Meiya. Takeru will have to choose which woman he truly loves after the story. Kei Ayamine, Miki Tamase, and Chizuru Sakaki (voiced by Masayo Kurata) are all female supporting characters in the game (voiced by Nagashima Yuuko).

Takeru Shirogane wakes up in his bed, as he did at the start of Muv-Luv Extra, in the second volume of Muv-Luv Unlimited. Although Meiya and Sumika had promised to wake Takeru up that morning, Takeru quickly discovers they never did. Sumika’s house is buried in the debris of his neighborhood after a giant mecha crushes it.

This other dimension is where humanity uses mecha known as Tactical Surface Fighters or Senjutsuki in Japanese to fight back against extraterrestrial invasion. BETA stands for “Beings of Extraterrestrial origin which are adversaries of the human race,” and invading aliens known as BETA are now on this Earth.

Having made visits to the Moon and Mars in 1958 and 1967, respectively, the BETA first landed on Earth in 1973 (in China and Canada), according to Muv-Luv Unlimited. Further conflicts with BETA had decimated continental Eurasia’s population, which now stands at only 2.4 billion people when the game began in 2001.

Takeru and Sumika are the only significant characters from the Extra timeline that don’t appear in the Unlimited timeline. However, most of the other key characters are present. Only Yoroi, Takeru’s best friend in the Extra universe, is a woman here for reasons that remain a mystery. The other characters are mostly the same as their Extra counterparts.

Muv-Luv Alternative takes place three years after the events of Unlimited when Takeru wakes up in his bed. Even though he initially thinks that Muv-Luv Unlimited was a dream, something tells him otherwise. Outside, he realizes that he has been transported back to the beginning of Unlimited’s story.

As a result of his refusal to accept the events of Unlimited, he decides to help professor Kouzuki save the Earth and humanity by implementing the Alternative IV plan, which was put on hold at the end of the series.
