Men in Kilts Season 1 Recap
In Episode 1, “Food and Drink,” McTavish and Heughan go to Edinburgh and Pittenween to learn more about Scottish seafood and to the Isle of Islay to get a crash course in whisky. At the Laphroaig distillery on Islay, Heughan and McTavish learn how to make whisky, but they choose to drive into the malted barley supply instead of shoveling peat. In the second episode, they both compete in different Scottish sports like rugby, golf, etc., and the loser has to take a dip in the North Atlantic.
Heughan was able to lift the 100 kg Puderac stone, but McTavish wasn’t able to. After that, they both went surfing on the coast of Scotland. Sam will keep his word on a bet. It’s the only bet that fans wanted him to lose, but he didn’t. When Sam and McTavish go to the Highland Games to learn how to throw a hammer, they both dress the part.

MacGillivary is the youngest clan leader Scotland has ever had.

In this funny class with Highland dancer Cerys Jones, they compete against boys who are 4, 5, and 6 years old.In the fourth episode, “Witchcraft and Superstition,” they went to the creepy places in Scotland: Greyfriars Kirkyard and Wormiston house. Greyfriars is a popular place for tourists to visit in Edinburgh, Scotland, because it has a history of being haunted. In the fifth episode, “Culture and Tradition,” Heughan and McTavish get their clothes from Stewart Christie, who is the oldest tailor in Scotland. A 300-year-old tailor made the model’s three-piece tweed suit.
Heughan and McTavish don’t know how to talk in Gaelic, but they had to learn this for Outlander. Fun fact: There are more sheep than people in Scotland. According to a report, there are 5.46 million people in Scotland as of 2019, while the June 2020 agricultural census counted 6.73 million sheep.
