Ten years have passed since the first season of the Game of Thrones series premiered, but fans’ enthusiasm for fantasy sagas and their cinematic adaptations shows no signs of abating. The publication of such works, however, is not. The Doors of Stone, the third installment in Patrick Rothfuss’s massive and sprawling fantasy epic The Kingkiller Chronicle, has been anticipated for well over a decade. Everything we know about the highly anticipated book, from its release date to our speculations about its contents, is laid out here.

The first two volumes told the tale of Kvothe, an adventurer and bard who gets involved in various fantasy adventures. With any luck, the many subplots presented throughout the series will all come to a head by the end of the third book as Kvothe, who reminisces about his exploits at the inn he manages, returns back to where we met him at the beginning of the series.  In this article, we will discuss kingkiller chronicles book 3 release date and many more things related to it.

Kingkiller Chronicles Book 3 Release Date

And that, my friend, is the question that begs a million dollars. The release date for The Doors of Stone has been predicted to be anywhere from the year 2014 to the year 2018. The prior glimmer of optimism suggested a possible launch in August 2020, which is definitely not the case. An outdated German Amazon link has started a new rumor that the book will be released in July 2021, but you shouldn’t put your hopes up just yet.

However, Patrick Rothfuss has some updates to share on the subject. At the several events he has done to raise money for his organization Worldbuilders since the outbreak began, he has fielded inquiries from fans about what they might face in the future. In particular, he must revise what he had previously written as part of the series’ preliminary preparation and bring it up to the quality of the first two books. kingkiller chronicles book 3 release date.

IS THE DOORS OF STONE WRITTEN YET?

A picture of Rothfuss’s original draught of The Doors of Stone was shared on Google+ in 2013. The author of the post claims that using Google Glass during the revision process will make it simpler. While the message may not hold up well over time, at least a whole manuscript exists. Since Google+ has been discontinued, the original post has been lost, however, it continues to be accessible on Reddit. However, Rothfuss’ editor disclosed in a Facebook post that she has not seen a single word of the Doors of Stone manuscript, which contradicts all the hoopla about the novel being finished. Even though editing is crucial, readers can’t wait to get their hands on the next book, its flaws and all. kingkiller chronicles book 3 release date.

ARE THERE SPOILERS FOR THE DOORS OF STONE?

Rothfuss has stated in two interviews with Tor.com (one in 2012 and the other in 2017) that the Kingkiller trilogy would end with The Doors of Stone but that it will not be the final work set in that setting. In the 2017 interview, the author hinted that Kvothe would be doing more travelling, including a trip to Renee, the “three-part city.” He also hinted that the story of how Kvothe became an innkeeper and how he met his future apprentice Bast will be told. Given Rothfuss’s attention to detail, it’s safe to assume that every open plot thread from The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear has been resolved.

The third book, according to Rothfuss’s comments to Tor, will be shorter than The Wise Man’s Fear (994 pages), but there will still be plenty of room for a complex plot and a satisfactory conclusion. Recently, at Worldbuilders fund-raisers, Rothfuss disclosed that while the University played a significant role in the first two volumes, it will only play a role in Doors of Stone for around 20-50% of the book’s total run time. Those numbers sound too exact to be phony, but he did release loads of fabricated details throughout the webcast, so it’s hard to know. kingkiller chronicles book 3 release date.

ARE THERE ANY EXCERPTS OF THE DOORS OF STONE?

Rothfuss has not yet released any extracts from the third book. You’ve read The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear, and now you’re looking for something to hold you over until the next book in the series comes out. Unfettered is an anthology that featured the short tale “How Old Holly Came to Be.” The story The Lightning Tree, which features Bast, appeared in the collection Rogues. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a novella that was released on its own in 2014. These writings are all we have to go on for now if we want to figure out what’s been happening in Temerant, so while we wait for The Doors of Stone to be finished, we might as well start looking elsewhere. kingkiller chronicles book 3 release date.
