Prior to his 12th appearance in the NBA Playoffs and first with the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant’s new surroundings in the Grand Canyon state’s blazing hot desert have positioned the two-time NBA Champion alongside Devin Booker and Chris Paul as the Western Conference’s top three players.

When the All-Stars play the Clippers in the first game of their first-round series, Durant could be wearing his newest signature shoe, the Nike KD 16. Durant took to Instagram to show off the first look at a trio of Nike KD 16s sitting on top of the glochids of cacti in the Phoenix desert.

Similar to the design on the Nike KD 14’s upper, the forefoot and heel are made of textured multi-layer mesh, and a synthetic mudguard goes all the way around the shoe. As is typical for his signature series, the 15 has a sleek, streamlined design.

You may be familiar with the ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit series if you’ve been running regularly in the last three years and favor Nike running shoes. Nike tries to make the ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit 3 look like a better shoe:

The mid-foot TPU caging system has been updated with ventilation holes on both the lateral and medial sides, and the ventilation holes have been carried over to the forefoot’s split outsole. KD branding is on the tongue tabs, and the pair’s Swooshes are on the upper collar, just like the Air Max 95.

It’s likely that Zoom Air is in the shoe’s heel. As is common for NBA signature shoes that have been out for more than eight months, the Nike KD 16 could hit the court for the first time as soon as this Sunday. While we wait to see what shade Durant might wear, check out this first look at the Nike KD 16 below.

Jayson Tatum’s most recent Jordan Tatum 1 echoes the aesthetics of the Air Jordan 12 and his 1960s Mustang for additional Nike, Inc. signature models.
