Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 Will Air In 2023
A second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will premiere in 2023, as announced during a Japanese event (H/T Crunchyroll(opens in new tab)). Anime typically has three major release windows: winter (January–March 2023), spring (April–June 2023), and fall (September–November 2023). (starting October 2023). If we had to guess, we’d say that a release in the fall of 2023 is the most likely scenario. Animation studio MAPPA has previously worked on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (which also premiered in the Fall slot), Attack on Titan, and the current sensation, Chainsaw Man.
That’s a lot of work for any production company, but starting in October 2023, they’ll have plenty of time to make season two that lives up to their ridiculously high expectations. While no release date was announced at a special Toho Animation event on September 25, we do now know which manga chapters the new season will be translating and have a general idea of how many episodes we can expect to see next year.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Story
With the conclusion of the Death Painting Arc (Chapters 55–64 in the manga), Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season came to a close. The second season will begin with adapting Gojo’s Past Arc from the manga, which spans chapters 65-79. That’s about a mission Gojo and Geto did in the past, where they escorted a Star Plasma Vessel to Tengen, and, you guessed it, Gojo’s past. The Shibuya Incident will also be included in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen (chapters 79-136). We won’t give anything away, but the entire plot of the Shibuya Incident Arc is Gojo and his new cursed alliance sealing away Goto.
That’s certain to run for two full courses, so the next season might include anywhere from 24 to 26 episodes. In need of a quick recap of recent events? Now that Yuji and Nobara have defeated Eso and Kechizu, the Cursed Wombs, they can reunite with Megumi. Instead, Sukuna eats the finger (thanks to an anime-style mouth in Yuji’s palm) and takes a little but significant step toward restoring his strength. That evil will be dealt with in the upcoming season, along with the evil of Choso, the third member of the Cursed Womb triplet, who has joined forces with Geto and Mahito.
Then there’s the fact that Utahime, a teacher at Jujutsu High, is actively searching for a sorcerer who has been using his or her powers for evil. Part of the following season will also focus on that. Season 2 ends with Gojo inviting Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara (together with Maki and Panda) to take part in a new mission after they are recommended for advancement to Grade 1 Sorcerers.
First look At Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
The first piece of key art for season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen has been unveiled on the show’s official Twitter account. You may see Gojo and Geto in their student days in the image that follows. A trailer is on the way. Since Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prelude to the main series, we think it’s great, but it’s not required viewing. Swordsman Yuta Okkotsu is the main character of the film, and he will grow in importance throughout the rest of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series (minor spoilers).
You should check out the manga series in which he stars because he is one of the most well-known characters in it. Also, when the credits roll, there’s a scene that lays up what will happen in the anime in the future. The plot centres on Yuta’s return to Japan and incorporation into the main cast, though it is unclear if he will appear in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. Seeking it out is a good idea if you’re a completist, as it adds depth to the world and the curse-heavy premise of the universe while also telling a gripping story. However, if you’re really rushed for time, you can probably skip it.
