Linda Shafran, Jerry Springer’s longtime spokesperson, confirmed to CNN on Friday that the famous TV presenter and former mayor of Cincinnati pἀssed away from pancreatic cἀncer. He was 79. On Thursday, it was reported that Springer had pἀssed away.
Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family, said in a statement-
“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word.”
The first episode of his tabloid talk show, “The Jerry Springer Show,” aired in 1991 and became an instant hit. After more than four thousand episodes, it was canceled in 2018. There were those who felt that Springer and his show contributed to the rise of “trash TV” because of the ridiculous guests he invited.

Springer once told CNN that he did not mind being referred to as the “grandfather of trash TV,” saying in 2010–
“The Jerry Springer Show. It’s probably accurate. I don’t know what the award for that is, but I think it is true that we were probably one of the first shows to present some of the outrageousness we have.”
Before his deἀth, Springer had kept his cancer diagnosis private.
