The family of missing geologist Daniel Robinson plans another public desert search for him on Feb. 25 in the hopes of scrutinizing regions that have not yet been explored since he went missing in Buckeye 19 months ago.

The search comes a week after a separate search by the Buckeye Police Department turned up no new leads. The 25-year-old was last spotted leaving his worksite in the Buckeye desert in June 2021. At the time of his disappearance, Robinson was working for the engineering firm Matrix New World, supervising a well site.

The next public search, scheduled for Saturday, was arranged separately by Daniel Robinson’s father, David Robinson, with funds raised through a GoFundMe campaign.

“The current investigation by law enforcement is not progressing, so we are raising money to fund other resources and present initiatives to locate Daniel,” Robinson wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Robinson stated that he is shifting his hunt for his son to focus mostly on forensics. He believes this will reveal new details about the case.

“I’ve reached a new stage in my hunt for my kid. “My focus will be on the forensics that were not done at the scene,” Robinson said on Daniel’s website.

The Buckeye Police Department is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Tempe Police Department.

Robinson has stated that his kid went missing under suspicious circumstances and is dissatisfied with the Buckeye Police Department’s handling of the issue using missing persons protocol, claiming that steps made in the case have been delayed.

Robinson Has Been Missing Since July 2021

On July 19, 2021, a rancher discovered Daniel Robinson’s Jeep flipped on its side in a ravine in a remote stretch of the desert near his worksite in Buckeye. According to a police report documenting the initial investigation efforts, he was never discovered.

Due to the condition of the vehicle, investigators ruled out the potential of foul play. When asked about the specific methods used to rule out foul play in the inquiry, the police department declined to elaborate, saying only that “Detectives, at this time, have not found evidence of foul play.”

Daniel Robinson, 24, has been missing since June 23, 2021, when he was last seen driving a blue 2017 Jeep Renegade. According to a September 2021 news conference, David Robinson and Jeff McGrath, the private investigator hired by the family to investigate the case, believe the measures utilized by the police department to rule out foul play are insufficient.

Daniel Robinson was last seen driving south into the desert on the day he went missing. He resided in an apartment in Tempe at the time and frequently monitored well sites in distant desert locations across the state as part of his profession.

In a live video on the Please Help Find Daniel YouTube channel, David Robinson stated that he believes there are contradictions in the timeline of the morning Daniel Robinson went missing. He noted a conversation he had with his son’s coworker in which the events of the morning appeared to him differently than what the officer assigned to the case initially stated.

During the same live stream, David Robinson stated that he reported the timeline anomalies to the Buckeye Police Department and that the interaction and his son’s phone records should have been investigated more thoroughly.

Buckeye Police: Recent Search Yields No New Clues

The investigation is still ongoing. Buckeye police stated in a statement posted Tuesday that a recent probe into the matter generated no new leads.

Buckeye police conducted the search on Feb. 18 in coordination with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office “to re-address key locations in the desert area where Daniel was last seen.”

MCSO resources such as K-9 units, drones, and several ATV and ground personnel were unable to yield meaningful results. The investigation is still ongoing.

Other human remains, including a skull and other bones, were discovered earlier in January by someone off-roading near Johnson Road and Southern Avenue. The remains were later identified as those of Juan Fierro, 35, by the Buckeye Police Department.

Buckeye police spokesman, detectives have been employing technology to construct a fuller picture of Daniel Robinson’s activities leading up to his disappearance.

Planalp stated that the police department is conducting desert searches as needed and that regular updates are being sent to the Robinson family. The government also stated that it had pursued leads in Arizona and other places.

Father Calls For ‘All Hands on Deck’ in Feb. 25 Search

According to the Eventbrite announcement for the search, the major geographic focus of the future desert search will be along the Hassayampa River, southwest of the spot where the Jeep was discovered.

David Robinson is calling for “all hands on deck” in the impending search, recruiting public volunteers and extending private and public invites to all law enforcement agencies involved in some way. He stated in a YouTube livestream that the goal is to have at least 200 volunteers scour the desert area.

On the search website, David Robinson stated that he arranged more than 45 weeks of searches covering more than 35,000 acres of property.
