Disney has confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the last movie in the series. The first movie in the Lucasfilm series, Raiders of the Lost Ark, came out in 1981 and became an instant classic.
Harrison Ford came back as the brave archaeologist for more adventures in 1984’s prequel The Temple of Doom and 1989’s sequel The Last Crusade, which together made up the original trilogy.
Ford came back for The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008, and now, after another long break, he’s back for the fifth and last movie in the series.
Before Indiana Jones 5 came out, Disney said for sure that it would be the last movie in the series. In a new press release, the studio calls The Dial of Destiny “the highly anticipated final installment of the beloved franchise.”

James Mangold, who is taking over for Steven Spielberg as director, also called the movie the “final Indiana Jones adventure.” Ford has said before that this will be the last time he plays Indiana Jones, but this is the first time Disney has said that The Dial of Destiny is the last movie in the series.
Why the Indiana Jones Movies Are Coming to an End?
The main reason the Indiana Jones series is coming to an end is that its main actor is 80 years old and no longer wants to play the physically demanding role. Ford is said to have hurt his shoulder while practicing a fight scene for Dial of Destiny.
This meant that the production had to work around his recovery. By ending with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the beloved franchise will hopefully go out on a high note and not drag on too long with pointless spinoffs about minor characters.
There have been rumors that Disney+ is making an Indiana Jones TV show, but Mangold says that it won’t be about Ford’s archaeologist. But since then, there have been rumors that the series has been canceled. Now, Disney has confirmed this by saying that Dial of Destiny is the last book in the series.
Even though it may come as a surprise, the official confirmation should make people even more excited for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which comes out in theaters this summer.
