Police said a shooting occurred at Benito Juarez Community Academy in Chicago’s Pilsen district on Friday afternoon, leaving two teenagers dead and two more injured. Four persons were found with gunshot wounds at the school in the 2100 block of South Laflin Street, according to fire authorities, and police and paramedics arrived at the scene soon before 3 p.m.

According To the Police:
- After being hit in the head, a 14-year-old kid was transported to Stroger Hospital, and later declared dead.
- After being hit in the head, a 15-year-old kid was transported to Stroger Hospital, and later declared dead.
- A 15-year-old girl was treated at the scene for a graze wound to the thigh and was sent in good health to Stroger Hospital.
- A 15-year-old child who was hit in the shoulder and thigh was taken in excellent condition to Stroger Hospital after the incident.
- Brandon Perez, a 15-year-old kid, has been named as the victim who passed away from his wounds.
CPS has given an “all-clear” to pupils who are still inside the school, according to Chicago police spokesperson Tom Ahern, who also verified that the incident occurred outside the school. According to police, no suspects were apprehended or named after the incident.

Chicago Public Schools released the following statement Friday afternoon:
“Our first goal is the community at our school’s safety. We learned this afternoon that bullets were fired outside of Benito Juarez High School just after dismissal. Paramedics and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) were on the scene without delay.
The event is being investigated, and CPS and CPD are in constant contact. To gather information and respond to this occurrence, the CPS Office of Safety and Security and other District officials are coordinating closely with school administration, staff, and CPD.
Families from Benito Juarez and the larger neighborhood will receive updates from CPS. All those affected by this tragedy are in our thoughts. We are giving employees, and students access to crisis team services.”
