Fans are eager to know when the new season of Game of Thrones will premiere after the show was “restored to its former splendour” by the first season of House of the Dragon. We were taken back in time around two centuries before the events of the original smash hit, to a period when House Targaryen ruled supreme with an army of dragons at their disposal, thanks to the prequel series.
But things are not so rosy behind the city walls of King’s Landing; family feuds and squabbles have pushed the capital to the verge of civil war, which was precipitated by the passing of King Viserys (Paddy Considine).
His second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower, considers her son to be the real heir, and she and his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), are at odds about who will succeed to the kingdom. House of the Dragon was picked up for a second season by HBO before its first episode had even aired, so we know this tale will continue. What we know about Season 2 thus far is included below. House Of The Dragon Season 2 Cast
Many actors were used up in the first season of House of the Dragon as many characters died or grew older over the course of the show’s 10 episodes. While that may be the case, the following House of the Dragon cast members are slated to return for season two. In the next months, we should learn more.
- Known as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Matt Smith plays this role.
- Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke
- A role for Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, the queen of the Targaryen dynasty
- Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans)
- Voici Steve Toussaint, en guise de Lord Corlys Velaryon!
- Whenever possible, cast Eve as Rhaenys Targaryen.

As George RR Martin’s novel Fire and Blood describes the civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, it is unclear if Graham McTavish will return as Ser Harrold Westerling. Also, in the season’s ninth episode, we witness him resign from the Kingsguard.
Even through flashbacks, it seems unlikely that we will see Paddy Considine return as King Viserys I Targaryen, who was in such a sorry shape when we said goodbye. And the same goes for young Elliot Grihault, who played Prince Lucerys Velaryon and was brutally killed in the series’ climax. House Of The Dragon Season 2 Release Date.

House Of The Dragon Season 2 Plot
Season 2 of House of the Dragon will pick up right where season 1 left off, plunging viewers into the midst of the catastrophic Targaryen civil war, also known as the Dance of the Dragons. Westerosi commoners and nobility will choose sides in this war based on which Targaryen dynasty member — Queen Rhaenyra I or her son, the young King Aegon II — they hope would ascend to the Iron Throne.
After what happened to Prince Lucerys Velaryon in the season 1 finale, Rhaenyra will understandably be motivated by vengeance. It’s safe to assume that erstwhile friends Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower will be hit particularly hard by the conflict, but that there will be both violent and calmer, more emotional events to come as well.
According to The Hollywood Reporter interview with House of the Dragon showrunner and executive producer Sara Hess, season 2 will focus on the tense relationship between Rhaenyra and her husband/uncle Daemon. “We’re currently writing Season 2 and trying to answer the question, “What is his relationship with Rhaenyra?” That might be interpreted in a variety of ways [in Fire & Blood] “”, she remarked.
