Family Reunion Season 5: Cast Of This Sitcom Family Values

The series, created by Meg DeLoatch, premiered on Netflix in July 2019 and has since been aired on the service in five parts (one of which was a Christmas special), with the most current instalment of seven episodes premiering in August 2021. Family Reunion has been nominated for several accolades, including a Primetime Emmy.

The genre usually does well on networks like CBS and ABC, but this show has been one of the few triumphs Netflix has had in the category. So far, Fuller House has been Netflix’s most successful multi-camera comedy. Many of the network’s prior attempts, such as Country Comfort, The Crew, and Mr. Iglesias, have failed to make it through their first season.

Loretta Devine

M’Dear (short for “Mama Dear”), played by Devine, is the feisty grandmother who insists on taking her grandkids to church each and every Sunday for as long as they remain in her care. M’Dear may be critical and blind to her own flaws, but she is fiercely protective of her loved ones. An Emmy was given to Devine in 2011 for her performance as Adele Webber on Grey’s Anatomy. She won NAACP Image Awards in 1995 and 1996 for her supporting parts in Waiting to Exhale and The Preacher’s Wife, respectively. She has made recent appearances in the Netflix films The Starling, Naked, and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. family reunion season 5.

Mowry, Tia

Cocoa, portrayed by Mowry, is the wife of M’Dear’s son Moz and is new to Columbus, Georgia after relocating from Seattle with her family. She just had a baby and is also raising four older kids, but she’s still working hard to market her handmade jewellery brand. Sister, Sister and The Game both featured Mowry in starring roles. In 2002, she also made an appearance in the comedy The Hot Chick.

Anthony Alabi

Moz, played by Alabi, is M’Dear’s favourite son who gave up a promising football career to settle down with his wife, Cocoa, and their new family in the suburbs. He overcame his financial difficulties and is now establishing himself as a prominent sports talk show personality. He’s a fun father to his kids, but he can’t seem to keep his parents’ house in order without a stern reminder from M’Dear. So far, Alabi’s acting credits include episodes of Shameless, Black-ish, and Modern Family. He also appears in the 2016 Netflix comedy, Pee-Big wee’s Holiday. family reunion season 5.

 Talia Jackson

Jackson portrays Jade, the eldest daughter of Cocoa and Moz, who is about to graduate high school and has aspirations of becoming a fashion designer. She has come a long way from being an outcast among her peers to be extroverted and well-liked. She may still have her share of attitude, but she’s far from the irritable adolescent she was when she first moved in with her grandparents. Jackson has been seen in the 2022 comedy The Prank and the ABC drama series Station 19. family reunion season 5.

Cameron J. Wright

Wright portrays Mazzi, the musically talented middle son of Cocoa and Moz, who must navigate high school without his older brother Shaka, who is away at boarding school. Although he is working on being more self-reliant and responsible, he still can’t resist playing practical jokes on his younger sister, Ami. Wright has voiced characters in both Disney’s animated Sofia the First and Netflix’s teen comedy Tall Girl.

Jordyn Raya James

As Ami, the youngest daughter, James plays a role that requires him to act more maturely than his older sisters. Even if it means taking on more responsibility, she is always willing to lend a hand to her parents and grandparents. James has played herself in the web series Kids React and has appeared in the drama series Homecoming. family reunion season 5.

Richard Roundtree

Roundtree portrays M’Dear’s preacher husband, Jeb. He enjoys having Moz, Cocoa, and his grandchildren under one roof, but he wouldn’t be too sad if they moved out. Although he’s fairly rigid in his beliefs, his grandchildren manage to break through his prejudices. In the original 1971 film, its two sequels, and the TV series, Roundtree gave a career-defining performance as John Shaft. He has been in several successful films, including Seven, Brick, and Speed Racer. Jasun Jabbar Wardlaw Jr.

Tyson, portrayed by Wardlaw, is the McKellan kids’ cousin on Cocoa’s side of the family. Since his father passed away, he has been acting out and associating with the wrong crowd in Detroit, where he lives with his mother, Cocoa’s sister Maureen. His mother, an emergency room physician, is eager to send him to military school despite the long hours she works. Wardlaw has guest starred on BMF, Atlanta, and Black Lightning, among others. family reunion season 5.
