The first official trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi epic sequel “Dune: Part 2” has been released by Warner Bros. The Dune: Part Two trailer suggests that the sequel from filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will be more action-packed than the first.

Villeneuve said this when he unveiled the first footage from the sequel last week at CinemaCon. As Villeneuve put it:

“Part One is a more reflective film. An epic war film, Part Two is jam-packed with action. It is significantly denser. We visited a lot of new places. I didn’t want a sense of monotony. The sets are completely new. Every aspect is fresh.”

Dune 2 Trailer

Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts wrote the script for Dune: Part Two, based on Frank Herbert’s famous novel. Despite these issues, the original Dune earned a respectable $400 million at the box office.

It was also a candidate for awards, having won six Oscars and received a nomination for best picture. A third chapter based on Herbert’s Dune Messiah (1969), the series’ second novel, may also spark Villeneuve’s interest.
