The first official trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi epic sequel “Dune: Part 2” has been released by Warner Bros. The Dune: Part Two trailer suggests that the sequel from filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will be more action-packed than the first.
Villeneuve said this when he unveiled the first footage from the sequel last week at CinemaCon. As Villeneuve put it:
“Part One is a more reflective film. An epic war film, Part Two is jam-packed with action. It is significantly denser. We visited a lot of new places. I didn’t want a sense of monotony. The sets are completely new. Every aspect is fresh.”
Watch the preview that we’ve included down below:
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya feature in the film, produced by Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros.
Other returning actors include Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica Atreides), Javier Bardem (Stilgar), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Stellan Skarsgrd (Baron Vladimir Harkonnen), Dave Bautista (Glossu Rabban Harkonnen), Charlotte Rampling (Reverend Mother Mohiam), and Stephen McKinley Henderson (Thufir Hawat).
In the teaser, an albino Austin Butler plays Feyd Rautha, who Villeneuve describes as an “Olympic sword master crossed with a psychotic serial killer.” Other new cast members include Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli, and Christopher Walken as the Emperor.
Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts wrote the script for Dune: Part Two, based on Frank Herbert’s famous novel. Despite these issues, the original Dune earned a respectable $400 million at the box office.
It was also a candidate for awards, having won six Oscars and received a nomination for best picture. A third chapter based on Herbert’s Dune Messiah (1969), the series’ second novel, may also spark Villeneuve’s interest.
