Dominik Mysterio was part of a notorious storyline featuring Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero in 2005, during the height of WWE’s Ruthless Aggression Era, that concerned whether the 26-year-old’s real father was. Later that year at SummerSlam, the two faced off in a ladder battle for “Custody of Dominik.”
Eddie and Rey started to hate one other because of Chavo Guerrero. After convincing his uncle Eddie to take on Mysterio at WrestleMania 21 and losing, he became irritable with his friend and tag team partner.
The Mysterio family was embroiled in the rivalry between the two stars very quickly. Rey maintained the fact that the Latino Heat thought Dominik was his son a “secret” the entire time. Dominik was Guerrero’s son who was born out of wedlock and was controversially adopted by the Mysterio family.

Dominik Mysterio wished Eddie Guerrero won the Ladder match at WWE SummerSlam
The terrible deἀth of Eddie Guerrero in November 2005 struck the wrestling industry hard. The former world champion was a remarkable athlete, and it was fun to see his charming Mexican personality on TV. The Latino Heat is still mentioned by WWE today, whether it be in plotlines or in-ring action.
At the 2005 SummerSlam, Rey Mysterio prevailed in the ladder match “Custody of Dominik.” In an interview with Wrestling Inc., Dom expressed his desire for his current storyline dad to defeat Rey in 2005. Dominik said:
“Yeah, 100%. And I mean, WWE storyline, he [Eddie Guerrero] is my dad. So, I would’ve loved to have gone home with Uncle Eddie at this point, right? I feel like we would’ve had a really good dynamic at home… I always tell people, I feel like Eddie and my dad slowly planted that seed of me becoming a wrestler without me even knowing when I was eight in that storyline,”
