When Ryan Reynolds returns to play Deadpool 3, it will be in the first Deadpool film to become a part of Marvel’s cinematic universe. Additionally, this will be the first R-rated Deadpool film to hit theatres.
Once Upon A Deadpool, the sequel to 2016’s Deadpool movie, was released in 2018. Work on the third installment began in December 2019, but the coronavirus epidemic put a lot of things on hold in the entertainment business in 2020.
Reynold’s and Marvel’s executives decided Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-pitch Loeglin’s for Deadpool’s MCU debut was the right one, so they hired them to write a threequel.
During the scripting process for the third film, Reynolds was reportedly pushing for his character to be openly bisexual in the upcoming Marvel movie, according to reports in May. Deadpool has always been portrayed as a straight white male.
Deadpool 3 Storyline
Deadpool 3 has been confirmed and is currently in the writing phases. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, the writers of Bob’s Burgers, were supposedly hired by Marvel to write the script for the film. The existence of a draught is unknown at this time. It has been confirmed that the third installment will be written by original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
To be sure, the writing in Deadpool and Deadpool 2 was excellent, from the low-brow humor to the clever one-liners to the exciting action sequences. This is good news for fans of the movies. We’re pleased that the originals aren’t being fixed because there was nothing wrong with them. Shawn Levy, a longtime colleague of Reynolds’, has been tapped to direct the film.
As far as storylines go, the possibilities are nearly limitless because of the extensive MCU history and characters that have yet to be explored. In the MCU’s Phase 4 and beyond, may we witness a set-up for Deadpool to someday join the Avengers?
Stark and Strange, Stark and the GOTG, and Rocket and the Winter Soldier were just some of the unique character interactions that made Avengers Infinity War so enjoyable. It was all solid gold. Now picture Deadpool as a character in that film. The Fox acquisition should have taken place a lot sooner, to be honest.

With Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the mix would have been a great addition to the movie. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, of course. To see Deadpool parody the original Avengers would have been a sight to behold.
No one will see it now that Stark has passed away and Cap has aged and Thor’s post-Love and Thunder career is uncertain, but there’s still plenty of meat on the bone. Comic-book characters such as Deadpool, Hawkeye, and Doctor Strange all have established relationships. Oh, and there are numerous opportunities for collaboration with Spider-Man.
It would be amazing to have an established Avenger appear in Deadpool 3 as a counterpoint to Deadpool’s unique and weird identity.
Who in the Deadpool 3 Cast?
Only Ryan Reynolds‘ Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, has been confirmed for a Deadpool 2 sequel so far. It was Morena Baccarin’s role as Wade’s girlfriend/fiancée, Vanessa, that remained the same in the first two films of the 20th-century run. There’s no guarantee that Baccarin will return.
Leslie Uggams portrayed Deadpool’s elderly roommate Blind Al in the first film, and Karan Soni played cab driver Dopinder in the second. The X-Men characters Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapii appeared in both Deadpool films, but not in any other X-Men franchise installments.
While the X-Men franchise’s various iterations made cameos in the Deadpool flicks, the solo franchise’s status as part of the greater world was teased. Professor X was played by James McAvoy, Beast was played by Nicholas Hoult, and Quicksilver was played by Evan Peters.
Hugh Jackman, who has played Logan aka Wolverine since the first X-Men film in 1999 and appeared in all of the franchise’s last films under the 20th Century Fox banner, made a cameo appearance. Reynolds and Jackman have a sham rivalry about Wolverine’s Deadpool movies cameos. As Jackman’s tweet reveals, he hopes to continue their game with this film and make his Wolverine MCU canon.
Deadpool 3 Release Date
The future film has yet to be given a release date because filming is still going on. Feige revealed to Collider back in January: “This year’s filming will not take place. Ryan is one of the most in-demand actors in the business.
