Authorities reported that a 16-year-old Nevada County resident who had been missing since Wednesday night was discovered deceased on Friday.

According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, Trinity Backus’ corpse was discovered shortly after 2 p.m. in a densely forested river drainage region about half a mile north of the residence on Kentucky Ravine Road where she was last seen.

Her cause of death is unknown, according to the office, and there was “nothing unusual.” The sheriff’s office stated, “We have been in contact with the family and send our heartfelt condolences to them as they struggle through this tragedy.

Backus was last seen leaving her aunt’s house wearing a maroon robe and pyjamas at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Her family informed Michelle Bandur of KCRA 3 that the youngster attended North Point High School and that being missing wasn’t typical of her.

Trinity told her aunt she was heading to her boyfriend’s place in Green Valley, which is roughly 10 miles away, according to her mother, Andrea Stanio. Stanio claimed that she last saw her daughter on Wednesday at around 3 p.m. She described their talk while sobbing.

Trinity (my youngest daughter) was picked up from school and dropped off the last time Stanio saw her. “My eldest daughter and I were travelling up to the snow. I told Trin, “I love you,” and that was the last thing I ever said to her.”

Stanio claimed that she received a phone call at 10:47 p.m. stating that Trinity had left the house running.

She remarked, “That doesn’t seem like her. “I hopped in my car and headed over to see her aunt. It’s a 20-minute drive. Trinity wasn’t visible at the side of the road.” The Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, and the California Highway Patrol all provided search assistance on Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Crews were assisted by a FIRIS plane, which typically utilises its infrared capacity to map the spread of wildfires, as they searched for Backus throughout the night.

The Butte County Sheriff’s search and rescue team, the California Rescue Dog Association, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office were among the other law enforcement agencies listed by the sheriff’s office as contributing to the effort on Friday.

The hundreds of volunteers from different organisations that helped with the search were recognised by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. There were 140 people involved in the quest for Trinity. Rescuers deployed ATVs, foot patrols, search dogs, numerous helicopters, and aircraft.

Three months after another 16-year-old from Nevada County, Kiely Rodni, was reported missing, a fresh community effort has been launched in search of a missing youngster. Eventually, Rodni’s bones were discovered in Truckee’s Prosser Creek Reservoir, and it was determined that she had died accidentally.
