Jeanie Buss, president and controlling owner of the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, can celebrate again two years after the team’s first NBA championship. A spokeswoman for Buss confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she is engaged to actor Jay Mohr. The pair have not decided upon a wedding date.

Buss, 61, has been quite open on social media about her relationship, including a snapshot of the couple kissing that she uploaded on her 60th birthday in September 2021. She wrote, “Love, Joy, and Happiness,” and attached the message.

And you’ve given it to me every day, not only on my birthday. The story, our story, is captured in this photograph from a June wedding celebration. You know, I think it’s possible to have a work-life balance. I’m crazy about you, @jaymohr37.

Previously married to volleyball star Steve Timmons, the Lakers executive announced her breakup from ex-fiance and former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson in 2016. Actor and comedian Mohr, 52, has been married to models Nicole Chamberlain and Nikki Cox twice.

Besides her obligations with the Lakers, Buss has recently been involved in several other projects. She is the executive producer of the Hulu documentary series Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers, which premiered in August, and a co-owner of the all-female wrestling league Women of Wrestling, which returned to syndication in September via Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Hadley Robinson plays Buss on HBO’s drama Winning Time, which centers on the Lakers’ glory days in the 1980s Showtime era when her late father, Dr. Jerry Buss (played by John C. Reilly), was the team owner.

Buss, who is not involved with the Adam McKay-produced show, expressed her mixed feelings about the pilot to THR, saying, “They got a lot of stuff right, and they got a lot of stuff wrong.” The other things weren’t as great, but I thought John C. Reilly did a great job representing my dad and expressing his passion for sports.
