According to local officials, at least 16 passengers were injured after an Amtrak train collided with a truck blocking the tracks and partially derailed in Southern California on Wednesday.
The truck driver was sent to a trauma hospital, and another individual was brought to a medical centre with a “minor medical emergency,” according to the Ventura County Fire Department. According to a tweet, fourteen others with minor injuries were removed from the scene.

According to the agency, the other passengers on the Coast Starlight train looked unharmed.
Amtrak’s statement said-
“The train derailed as a result of the impact but remained upright. Amtrak is working with customers to make alternate travel arrangements.”
Amtrak said that roughly 198 passengers and 13 staff members were evacuated from the train. The fire department location has been cleared by fire and emergency medical personnel. Passengers were transported to a reunion centre where they may contact family members.
