Officials say that Portland police shot and killed a 30-year-old man early Saturday morning in the Reed neighborhood in Southeast Portland.
Portland police said in a statement on Wednesday that the state medical examiner’s office found that Immanuel Jaquez Clark-Johnson of Portland died from a gunshot wound. The police did not say what day Clark-Johnson died.

The shooting is being looked into by the East County Major Crimes Team, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office, and the Portland Police Bureau’s homicide unit. Police said that the district attorney will decide if the case needs to be brought before a grand jury.
A robbery with a gun was reported in the 5000 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. An officer saw a car that was suspected of being involved in a robbery driving erratically before stopping in the parking lot of Redwood Friends Church, which is just north of Reed College, in the 2900 block of Southeast Steele Street.
There, at 12:41 a.m., the police shot and hurt Clark-Johnson. Police haven’t said how many people fired their guns or how many shots were fired.
Clark-Johnson was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and three other people were taken into custody. Kevin Allen, a police spokesman, said on Saturday that the man was hurt badly but was expected to live. The police haven’t said who the other people were or if they were arrested.

Clark-death Johnson’s is the 91st homicide in Portland so far this year, and he is the fourth person the police have killed in 2022. In shootings, police have hurt four more people.
Joel Michael Arevalo, 30, Johnathan Worth, 19, and Aaron Stanton, 40, were all killed by police in Portland.
On Saturday, the Portland police didn’t say who fired their guns. This is the fifth time since July and the second time this month that the department has broken its own policy about naming officers who fire their guns within a day.
