Palestinian authorities claim that Israeli troops shot and killed a 15-year-old boy in the occupied West Bank. According to Ahmad Enaya, mayor of the West Bank village of Azzoun, an Israeli military vehicle entered the town late Thursday night. Soldiers opened fire on local youth who threw rocks at the car.
According to reports, The Israeli military released a statement saying that during a hunt for the people responsible for firing fireworks at Israeli vehicles near Azzoun, soldiers opened fire on suspects who had thrown explosives at them.
It acknowledged hearing about injuries but could not confirm any Palestinian deaths. Nidal Saleem, a tenth-grader from Azzoun, was shot in the back, according to a statement released by the public hospital in Qalqilya.
It further stated that two additional victims had been shot and sent to the hospital for treatment. With Israeli military incursions being increased in response to a rise in Palestinian attacks, the situation in the West Bank has become increasingly violent.
