On Friday, there was a “series of shootings” in Tate County, Mississippi, which killed six people, according to authorities. The governor said that someone has been taken into custody.
Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance said that the shootings took place at three different places in Arkabutla: outside a convenience store and in two homes.
Lance said that it looks like the gunman first went into the store and then shot and killed a man in a car outside.
Lance said that a woman was shot and killed in her home about two to three miles from the store. The sheriff said that her husband was hit with a weapon but was still alive.

Lance says that the third scene was behind the suspect’s house, at a house down a side road. Lance said that two people were found dead in the house and another two were found dead on the road outside the house.
Lance said that Richard Dale Crum, 52, of Arkabutla was taken into custody without a problem outside of his home. He was said to have a shotgun and two handguns.
The sheriff’s office said Crum has been charged with one count of first-degree murder. More charges for the other victims are expected to be filed in the coming days.
Crum is being held in the Tate County Jail without a bond. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer who can talk for him. The sheriff’s office said that the investigation is in its “very early stages.”
Lance said that investigators think the suspect doesn’t know the convenience store victim and are trying to find out if he was related to or knew any of the other five victims.
Governor Tate Reeves says he thinks the suspect did it all by himself. Reeves tweeted –
“His motive is not yet known.”
