When Nintendo released the teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 a few years ago, it set off a whirlwind of rumors and speculation about a sequel to one of the best Zelda games. We now know that the game will be called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it will come out in 2023. Thanks to Nintendo, we have gotten a few new looks at it. We’ve found out everything we can about our next adventure in Hyrule, which is making us even more excited.

    Release Date

We now know that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will come out on May 12, 2023. This is after it took a long time to make and we had to wait for years.

    Platforms

Tears of the Kingdom: The Legend of Zelda will only be available on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo doesn’t like to bring its best-selling first-party games to other consoles, and we don’t think that will change when Tears comes out.

Even though the Switch OLED came out, rumors about a possible Switch Pro Console keep going around. It will be interesting to see if The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes out at the same time as a “next-gen” Switch. Hyrule Warriors is pushing the system to its limits, so it’s clear that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom could use an upgrade.

    Trailers

Nintendo has shown three trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: a short one to introduce the game, a short gameplay trailer that was shown at E3, and the most recent one at a Nintendo Direct in 2022. The gameplay trailer is very interesting because it shows a lot of new features, some of which look like they were taken from Skyward Sword.

This latest trailer was still very short, but it started with some old carvings and then showed Link opening a huge door, running out onto a floating platform, and jumping off without fear. Before the title is shown, he lands on some kind of flying machine. Nintendo kept the official name of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom a secret at first because it would give away parts of the story.

Fans have come up with a lot of ideas about what this means, like Ganon’s body rising from Hyrule Castle, Malice coming back, and even links to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Most people agree that this game will be much darker than the first, even though they can’t agree on the specifics.

    Rating

After seeing the first trailer, many Zelda fans thought that Tears of the Kingdom would be much darker than any other Zelda game before it. But since then, the ESRB has rated the game, which gives us a good idea of what kind of content it will and will not have.

Tears of the Kingdom will be rated E10+, which is pretty typical for the series (Breath of the Wild had the same rating), and even lower than the T rating given to Twilight Princess. It got this rating because it has violence in a fantasy world and some mildly suggestive themes.

This has mostly put to rest the idea that this title would be geared more toward “adults.” However, it is still possible that it will have a darker tone, even if there isn’t a lot of blood and violence. For example, Majora’s Mask is one of the darkest Zelda games, and when it first came out, it was given an E rating.

    Multiplayer

It has been speculated that the game will include cooperative play; however, this speculation originated from the fact that the unveiling trailer showed Link and Zelda adventuring together. Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, the addition of co-op play would mark a significant departure from the last game, Breath of the Wild.

    Preorder

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom isn’t out yet, but you can preorder it on Amazon and Best Buy.
