EA has canceled Battlefield Mobile and Apex Legends Mobile, and the company Industrial Toys, which was developing the latter title, has also shut down.

The publisher said it decided to stop development on Apex Legends Mobile, which was released in May because the “ongoing experience was not going to match the expectations of our gamers.” The announcement of the cancellations came along with EA’s most recent financial results.

Respawn Entertainment, the creator of Apex Legends, explained the issues with the game’s development in a different statement, saying, “We strive to deliver experiences to consistently excellent players.

After a promising beginning, the content pipeline’s quality, quantity, and frequency for Apex Legends Mobile have started to lag behind that standard.”

The statement continued, “It is for this reason that we have decided to sunset our mobile game after months of working with our development partner [PUBG Mobile developers Lightspeed and Quantum Studios].”

Due to this, Apex Legends Mobile will terminate permanently on May 1 of this year. The game will be removed from marketplaces, and as of now, all in-app purchases for actual money will be unavailable.

Contrary to today’s news on the shutdown of Rumbleverse, EA will not issue player refunds for any money purchases, citing the rules of its User Agreement.

The publisher provided the following justification for EA’s choice to stop working on Battlefield Mobile: “As the industry has evolved and our strategy to create a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem has taken shape.

We decided to pivot from the current direction to best deliver on our vision for the franchise and meet our players’ expectations.”

Battlefield Mobile’s cancellation was announced along with the announcement that Industrial Toys, the company that developed the game and was recently acquired by EA, will shut down.

Before being acquired by EA, Industrial Toys, which was formed in 2012 by Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian, produced a variety of mobile-focused shooters, including Midnight Star.

In 2022, it was made known that the studio was developing Battlefield Mobile. The number of individuals losing their jobs due to EA’s decision to close Industrial Toys is still unknown.
