Chicago, IL (CBS) Police in Park Ridge are looking into a collision that claimed the lives of two individuals when a car struck a house there.

Around 11:12 a.m., it occurred in the 900 block of Oakton. The Park Ridge Police Department reports that first responders discovered a 2007 Honda automobile inside of which were two people. At the scene, both were declared dead. At the time of the collision, nobody was home.

The Honda was travelling south on Cumberland as it approached Oakton, according to the police, and “continued southbound through the intersection and into the residence at 901 Oakton, which is located on the south side of the intersection.”

According to the neighbours, who spoke to Jackie Kostek of CBS 2, the house has been empty for approximately a year. On Tuesday afternoon, the gas company and public works workers were present. They claimed that Oakton is a busy street and that they were shocked that this car could pass past the intersection without colliding with any other vehicles.

“I’ve never seen something so crazy,” the witness said. Around 11:00 a.m., seventeen-year-old Daniel Spandiary was preparing breakfast at home with his sister. He then heard something and caught a glimpse of it.

“A car passing by is audible. An automobile soars upward. The loudest sound I can recall hearing hit the home, which I can see out of the corner of my eye.”
