The 54-year-old Double Jeopardy actress disclosed that she broke her leg during the summer while she lamented the passing of her mother Naomi Judd during their Wednesday discussion about intergenerational trauma with UCLA professor Dr. Jonathan Flint. She suffered a femoral condyle fracture 1 and a half years after nearly dying in the Democratic Republic of the Congo after fracturing her leg in the middle of a dense forest in February 2021.

According to Ashley, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, the most recent fracture happened during the summer. “It was what it was,” I said. “Clumsiness is related with loss, and after mum passed away, other family members went down the stairs and had accidents; mine was just how I happened to look at the time.”

She claimed that because she had to “pause what I was working on at that point” and deal with her loss, the injury “truly allowed me to grieve.” She claimed that the fracture was not as terrible as the injury she had in 2021, which required a 55-hour ambulance ride to the hospital, many operations, and the need to relearn how to walk.

This time, it “healed in two months, lickety-split,” according to Ashley. She remained mum about whether it was the same leg.

Ashley expressed her sorrow over the April 30 suicide of her mother. The Judds superstar, who struggled with mental illness, was first discovered by her, and she also held her during her death moments.

I had so many people to contact the day my dear mother committed herself, she recounted. She also spoke about her partner, who she didn’t name but who was Harvard professor Martin Surbeck, saying he was in Europe and was able to get to Naomi’s husband, Larry Strickland, in Vienna to help him home. “There were five women who were with me within moments of my sharing that tragic news with them, and they are my chosen sisters.” She claimed that Pop “never would’ve been able to fly that intercontinental voyage by himself.” It was indeed a blessing,

Ashley also mentioned her sister Wynonna, stating, “We don’t always agree on things, but we support one another. We love each other and we show up for each other.”

She just attended her sibling’s final tour with The Judds, and she shared a video of them performing. While she grieves for her mother and recovers from her most recent leg injury, she claimed that she didn’t read all of the comments but assumed that “there is a cohort of people who are being vilely ugly” about her appearance.

The woman admitted, “I’ve gained some weight and I’m sure others are talking about it, but I don’t pay any mind to it because I know it’s a transitory situation and the weight will come off when it should.” You try being a previously extremely active woman who is 54 and put on some weight. That is going to generate some pretty sexist talks by both men and women and others in our culture. I have a healthy boundaries about it, but I also know that misogyny is a genuine issue in our culture.

Ashley also made mention of the “legal piece” of her mother’s death, which has been attempting to prevent the disclosure of the conclusions of the death inquiry. Her mother’s medical records and the video of the police questioning her in the final moments of Naomi’s life are among the things she doesn’t want made public.

The Judds: Love Is Alive — The Final Concert, a historical concert event featuring Wynonna, will take place at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) on November 3 and recreate The Judds 1991 Farewell Tour, it was revealed on Wednesday. Brandi Carlile, Martina McBride, Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, Little Big Town, and other musicians will perform at the event, which will live on CMT in March 2023.
