A Texas mother of three went missing after telling her husband she was going to get food. Her car was found hundreds of miles away in New Orleans with all of her things still inside.

Michelle Reynolds, 48, is a teacher at Fairview Junior High in Alvin, which is near Houston. On Thursday, her husband reported her missing after she drove away from home in her Lexus RX300.

Michael Reynolds told the station, “She said she was going to get something to eat, but she never came back.” The husband said that he tracked down the luxury SUV two days later in New Orleans, which was almost 600 miles away.

“We were able to open the car’s door and saw that her belongings were still there, but she wasn’t,” Michael told KHOU. “She hasn’t used her phone. The car was where her phone was. Even though her phone was charged, it was off.”

Also, surveillance video from Friday shows that the missing woman was seen. This was reported by Fox 26 Houston. Tim Miller, a member of the search-and-rescue group Texas EquuSearch, told the news outlet, “We did get surveillance footage of her parking her car on Saint Peters Street at 12:01 p.m. on Friday and then walking in a general direction.”

He also said, “Saint Peters Street is not too far from the Mississippi River. Miller said that a helicopter was sent by the nonprofit group to look for Reynolds along the banks of the Mississippi.

“At first, we wondered, ‘Did someone steal her car? Is something else happening?’ Until we got that surveillance footage, and yes, she did park her car at 12:01 p.m., get out, and start walking. So now we know that nothing bad happened on the way from A to B,” Miller told the outlet.

“I hope she’s lost and wandering around over there, and that someone will see her and bring her back to us safely. “That’s definitely the aim,” he said. KHOU says that the mom’s kids and students have not dealt well with her disappearance.

“I’m leaving now to go back to Houston because I have three kids. “Both my 13-year-old daughter and my 11-year-old son are also having a hard time,” Michael told the outlet. “Please keep your eyes open for Michelle. We really miss her and love her a lot. “We’re doing everything we can to get her home safely,” he said.

The Alvin school district said in a statement that it has been helping the family.

“We were told that one of our employees, Michelle Reynolds, hasn’t been seen or heard from since Thursday afternoon.

Alvin ISD has reached out to the Reynolds family and is helping them through this hard time,” the statement continued. WAFB asked the New Orleans Police Department about the investigation, and they said they didn’t know anything about it.
