The ten victims’ families have been waiting years to hold the Infowars conspirator and the political climate that made him possible accountable. Jesse Lewis’ parents, Neil Heslin (left) and Scarlett Lewis, perished in the Sandy Hook school tragedy. In regards to Alex Jones’s trial, Mr. Heslin stated, “I very much look forward to justice being served.

” Dallas, Texas For years, the far-right conspiracy broadcaster Alex Jones disseminated untruths about the Sandy Hook school tragedy, alleging that the government manufactured it and that the victims’ families participated in the fraud. In three separate cases, juries will now determine how much Mr. Jones must pay for the pain he brought about.

In Austin, where Mr. Jones and his Infowars website are based, the first trial will start on Tuesday. The parents of Jesse Lewis, 6, who died at Sandy Hook, Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, will describe the pain they experienced after Mr. Jones intimated on his show in 2017 that Mr. Heslin’s filmed memory of cradling Jesse’s body soon after the massacre was untrue. Since then, the family has faced years of accusations and warnings.

The parents of Noah Pozner, the youngest victim of Sandy Hook, Lenny Pozner, and Veronique De La Rosa, are expected to give testimony at a subsequent trial in Austin in September. The families of eight additional Sandy Hook victims will give testimony at the third trial in Connecticut that same month.

The cases follow the 10 victims’ families’ victory in defamation actions against Mr. Jones last year when judges declared him accountable by default for persistently failing to turn over papers and testimony that were required by court order. Those decisions paved the way for the forthcoming cases when jurors would compensate the families financially for their triumphs.

Sandy Hook Parents

Attorneys for Mr. Jones worry that the judgments might prove fatal to his Infowars empire, which is based in Austin and generates more than $50 million in income annually through the sale of diet pills, conspiracy films and books, body armor, and other items during his broadcasts. Donald J. Trump, the former president, appeared on Infowars throughout the 2016 election and is friends with Mr. Jones. In addition, Mr. Jones is being investigated for his involvement in organizing the actions that led up to the attack on the Capitol on January 6 and for his connections to radical organizations.

In an interview, Mr. Heslin stated, “It’s really difficult to grasp or relate to the threat of these online conspiracies and conspiracists, and I think the trial will absolutely paint a picture in people’s minds of how dangerous it is. “I eagerly anticipate seeing justice done. Jones started it, and I’m going to finish it. In 2017, Mr. Heslin participated in an NBC program with Mr. Jones that was presented by Megyn Kelly, who had just transferred from Fox News to the network.

“My son died. My son was interred. Mr. Heslin said to Ms. Kelly, “I held my baby with a bullet wound through his head. If Mr. Jones is summoned to testify in Texas, it is unclear if he will attend in person or through video link. But he has persisted in trying to safeguard his source of income. In exchange for immunity from prosecution, Mr. Jones has contacted the Justice Department to tell what he knows about the Capitol violence on January 6, 2021.

According to two persons who were familiar with Mr. Jones’s offer at the time, an immunity arrangement has not occurred and is improbable. Mr. Jones worked on a pay-per-view video about himself that will air during the trial in Texas while evading the families who wanted him to testify. He has created a book that will be available two weeks before to the start of the September trials.
