Gordie Howe was born in Florence, Saskatchewan, Canada on March 31, 1928, as one of Katherine and Albert’s nine children. Shortly after his birth, he migrated to Saskatoon with his family.
By the time he reached his mid-teens, Howe was already six feet tall, demonstrating that he was physically mature beyond his years. During the Great Depression, he quit education in order to work in construction.
