The actor Tom Sizemore, who was best known for his role in “Saving Private Ryan,” has died at the age of 61. Sizemore died in his sleep at a hospital in Burbank, California, on Friday, according to his manager Charles Lago.
Since he had a brain aneurysm at his home in Los Angeles on February 18, he had been in a coma in an intensive care unit. Mr Lago said (as reported by INDEPENDENT) –
“It is with great sadness and sorrow I have to announce that actor Thomas Edward Sizemore … passed away peacefully in his sleep today at St Joseph’s Hospital Burbank. His Brother Paul and twin boys Jayden and Jagger were at his side.”
After Sizemore had the brain aneurysm, doctors said last Thursday (February 28) that there was “no more hope” for him to get better.
Sizemore was born in 1961, and one of his first movie roles was in Oliver Stone’s Born on the Fourth of July, which came out in 1989.
After that, he was in the movies Point Break (1991) and True Romance (1993). Sizemore’s roles in Natural Born Killers and the cult classic crime thriller Heat made him a star.

In the 1990s and 2000s, he became known for playing tough guys in war and action movies. In the 1998 war movie Saving Private Ryan, he played Mike Horvath, who was Captain John Miller’s longtime friend and second-in-command.
Sizemore was married to actress Maeve Quinlan and had twin daughters who are now 17 years old. His career was overshadowed by his serious drug use, accusations of abuse, and multiple run-ins with the law.
Eventually, these things destroyed his career, left him homeless, and put him in jail. He has talked about his struggles with addiction in the past, and in 2003, his then-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss was found guilty of domestic violence against him.
In 2006, he pleaded no contest to using methamphetamine outside of a motel. Sizemore was arrested in Los Angeles in 2009 and 2011 for allegedly hitting a former spouse.
Late in 2017, when the MeToo movement reached its peak around the world, Sizemore was also accused of touching an 11-year-old Utah girl on the set of a movie in 2003.
He described the allegations as “highly disturbing,” and stated that he would never inappropriately touch a child.
