According to authorities, the Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan was shot and killed in his birthplace of Bogalusa, which is north of New Orleans. Javorius Scott, the musician’s real name, died on Wednesday shortly after 6 o’clock. He was 24. Just before 6 o’clock on Wednesday, according to the police, a call of shooting was received.
One of the injured victims was taken to the emergency room of Our Lady of the Angels. A critically injured person who was still present at the scene was taken there by ambulance. Bogalusa police reported Scott’s death “as a result of his injuries” in a Facebook post. The second casualty, identified as Kenyatta Scott Sr., the rapper’s father, by numerous news organizations, was reported to be in stable condition. Although they would not elaborate, police claimed the survivor was a “close relative” of the rapper. Investigators with the Bogalusa police stated they thought the two shootings were connected.
In a statement, the mayor of Bogalusa, Wendy Perrette, urged locals to maintain composure as police carried out their investigation. She stated that the needless shooting in Bogalusa was “another heartbreaking reminder of the agony that violent crime brings with it.”
