Bill James Accident
Bill James, a beloved friend, coach, and mentor, was involved in a terrible accident over the Labor Day weekend that left him with a severe neck injury and the inability to use his arms or legs.
Due to this terrible tragedy, Bill’s family, friends, and coworkers have come together to send their heartfelt prayers and good wishes for his quick recovery on social media platforms.
In addition, a fundraising initiative has been started to raise money for his recovery efforts. The enduring influence Bill has had on those around him is attested to by his tenacity and the community’s steadfast support.
The career of Bill James
The renowned Methuen wrestling coach Bill James has dedicated his professional life to improving the state of wrestling in New England. In a really memorable event on Wednesday, Coach James led the Rangers to his 400th career victory, capping off an incredible season in which the team went 18–2, with one draw.
He has won 519 games in his coaching career, making a huge impact at schools including Ipswich, Bishop Guertin in New Hampshire, and Hamilton-Wenham. When he started working as an assistant coach in the late 1990s, his relationship with Methuen officially began.
He became the team’s head coach in 2001. In 2012, the Rangers went undefeated under his direction and won the Division 1 state championship. He has led the group to seven Merrimack Valley Conference titles over the past 21 years.
Despite having to rebuild the squad after 11 starters left in 2021, Coach James persisted in being a committed educator, mentor, coach, and motivating leader. He is a real idol to many MHS wrestlers and students. Coach James is aware of his enormous obligation to every MHS student.
Coach James’ unstated wrestling code, which he has kindly shared with many over their time at MHS, is exemplified by his everlasting dedication to wrestling, his family, and all of the students at our school.

Bill James Recovery Fund
Coach Bill James is in need of financial assistance, and Mark Skandier has set up a GoFundMe page to help. Bill James has medical and other related obligations to pay. $100,000 was chosen as the campaign’s initial goal.
But thanks to the kind donations of 488 people, a total of $50,315 had already been successfully raised as of the time this article was being written. The community’s fervent support for Coach Bill James throughout his trying times is demonstrated by this fundraising initiative.
