Former s*x therapist Amie Harwick was found dead Thursday morning after she was pushed over the third-floor balcony of her Hollywood Hills condominium.

Sarah Ardalani, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, stated that the autopsy results showed that blunt force injuries to the head and chest from a fall following an incident were the primary cause of death.

According to CNN, Ardalani also discovered signs of “manual strangulation.” On Wednesday, the ex-boyfriend of Harwick was charged with murder in her case.

A news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said that Gareth Pursehouse, 41, was charged with one count of murder and one count of first-degree residential burglary. He could be put to death because he is accused of lying in wait, which is a special circumstance.

It’s not apparent if he has legal representation. The Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement that Harwick, 38, who had been engaged to comedian Drew Carey, was discovered lifeless early Saturday morning beneath a third-story balcony in her house with injuries consistent with a fall.

At the hospital where she was taken, she passed away despite emergency care. The family and s*x therapist had reportedly obtained a restraining order against Pursehouse.

An FBI-LAPD Task Force caught Pursehouse on Saturday afternoon, and he was freed Tuesday night after posting a $2 million bond.

The district attorney’s office issued a statement on Thursday saying he was once again arrested on a no-bail warrant on Wednesday. His arraignment, originally set for this past Thursday, has been pushed up to March 4.

Reports of a Screaming Woman

amie harwick death

When LAPD officers arrived at the scene of the reported “lady screaming” early on Saturday, they were met by Harwick’s roommate, who informed them that Harwick had been assaulted inside the home.

The LAPD found her motionless and “gravely damaged” beneath a third-floor balcony. There was a scuffle heard in the upstairs landing area, and evidence of a forced entrance into the property was discovered.

According to the statement, Harwick recently obtained a restraining order against Pursehouse out of fear for an ex-boyfriend, but the order was later deemed to have expired. The LAPD reported that she had seen the suspect two weeks before her murder.

Harwick, who used to be a Playboy model, has long been a vocal supporter of the s*x work community, even helping to fund a charity that provides mental health services to adult industry performers.

Friends and customers were saddened by her passing. A 2018 engagement between Harwick and “Price Is Right” host Carey was announced. Less than a year after getting together, they broke up.

Carey said in a statement to CNN –

“Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime.”

“She was positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”

Model Emily Sears tweeted –

“(Harwick) was my therapist.”

“Her work changed my life. It’s truly heartbreaking that she passionately dedicated her life helping others heal from trauma and live freely. This shouldn’t have happened to her.”

E! producer Kelsey Darragh tweeted –

“We spoke in detail about my past history (with) domestic abuse.”

“She dedicated her LIFE to helping women like me. feels unreal. RIP dr.amie.”
