A multi-vehicle collision involving an oil tanker on Sunday morning resulted in one person being transported to the hospital. The off-ramp to I-275NB was the scene of a crash involving a Honda CRV and a semi-truck hauling 8700 gallons of petroleum at roughly 3:47 in the morning, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
The 53-year-old guy driving the semi and the 31-year-old lady driving the Honda followed each other northbound on I-275 as they reached Busch Blvd. The Honda and the semi-truck collided as they approached the exit ramp and merged into the outside lane.

The two cars allegedly left the travel lanes, rolled onto the grass shoulder at the exit ramp, and caught fire. The two automobiles caught fire together with some nearby grass and trees. Responders arrived and saw considerable smoke and flames from the retention pond near the I-275 Busch Blvd. exit ramp.
The type of fire necessitated using additional resources, including a foam vehicle, to put it out. After the foam was used, the fire was extinguished in 20 minutes. All occupants of the cars were outside when first responders arrived, according to Tampa Fire Rescue, and no firefighters were hurt.

The crash resulted in minor injuries for the passenger brought to the hospital. I-275 was closed to traffic in both directions from Fowler Avenue to Bird Street until 6:27 a.m. Secondary roads were also closed and reopened at 9 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol will do the traffic analysis. Charges are allegedly underway against the 31-year-old, according to officials.
