Nashville police say that country music producer and songwriter Kyle Jacobs has died. He was in a CMT docuseries with his wife, singer Kellie Pickler, and they were both in it. He was 49.
On Friday, authorities in Nashville announced that Jacobs had committed suicide at his residence. The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications says that at 1:11 p.m. on Friday, a 911 call was made.
Officers and people from the Nashville Fire Department went to Pickler and Jacobs’ house on Sneed Road. A police statement said that Pickler told police that she woke up a short time ago and looked for her husband because she didn’t see him.

She and her personal assistant couldn’t open the door to the bedroom/office upstairs, so the assistant called the police, the statement said.
As a music producer, Jacobs has worked with Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, Darius Rucker, and Tim McGraw, among others. In 2014, he won an Academy of Country Music Award for his work on Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck” as a producer.
Jacobs often used Instagram to talk about his music collaborations. He wrote in a 2021 post –
“One of my favourite things to do as a songwriter is writing songs with beautiful hearts in beautiful places.”
Pickler is best known for being on Season 5 of “American Idol.” This helped her get started as a musician and TV host.
“I Love Kellie Pickler,” a docu-comedy series that started on CMT in 2015 and was a rating hit, starred both Jacobs and Pickler. The show ran for three years.
In a statement posted to the official Twitter account for CMT, the network said –
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Kellie Pickler and the rest of the Jacobs family.”
In an interview about their reality show in 2015, Jacobs said that he was more used to being behind the scenes than in front of the camera, but that he felt comfortable working on the project with his wife. Jacobs said –
“I’m just going to be me and be with my wife and just be us.”
“We’ve just built such a foundation of trust and love…Whatever work is, if it ever gets in the way of our marriage then it gets in the way. Our marriage comes first.”
