The woman was found not moving on the ship’s trip to Nassau, Bahamas, on February 27. The FBI field office in Columbia, South Carolina, said that the woman was not breathing.
When they realized she wasn’t responding, medical staff and crew members tried to save her life, but the FBI said she was pronounced dead on the ship. Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson Matt Lupoli said in a statement to CNN –
“Both the deceased and her husband were debarked in Nassau and Bahamian authorities have already investigated the circumstances and are conducting an autopsy.”
“We are fully cooperating. This is a matter for authorities in the Bahamas and Charleston and we have no further comments.”
The FBI release says that when the ship got back to Charleston on March 4, an FBI team looked through the room of a passenger for evidence.
The FBI said that the woman’s death was an isolated event and that no other passengers were in danger before or after she was found dead.
The release says that the FBI looks into strange deaths of US citizens and “certain crimes on the high seas.” The FBI said that they are still looking into what happened.
