Next week on Coronation Street, Aaron’s father, Eric Sandford, threatens Amy Barlow with legal action.
Amy must make a difficult choice as Eric pressures her to remove an article she wrote about Aaron from her blog.
Amy’s concerns about Aaron getting back in touch with his ex-girlfriend Mia raise the stakes in the unfolding plot.
Amy reveals that Aaron raped her after a night out, intending that Mia would avoid him. Mia’s reaction is adverse; she harshly accuses Amy of lying about the event.
Aaron gives Mia a misleading account of what happened in response to her questioning Amy’s confession. Mia falls for his deception and blames Amy for unfairly smearing Aaron’s reputation.
A short time later, DS Swain pays a visit to the Barlow residence to inform Amy of the severe harassment complaint that has been made against her.
Saddened by the unfairness of the situation, Amy decides to document her experiences over the past few weeks in writing. Amy’s dad, Steve McDonald, tells her she should let other people see the document, which she does.
When Eric finds out, he is determined to exact revenge on Amy. He then goes to the main office to threaten to sue Amy for libel after developing a scheme.
A letter from Eric’s attorney warning her to remove the post or risk legal action arrives later in the week.
Steve is sure that Amy should not back down, but Dee-Dee Bailey points out the cold, hard truth that a libel case may bankrupt them.
Amy’s mother, Tracy, agrees with Steve and says they’ll keep fighting. You can catch Coronation Street on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m. on ITV1 and streaming on ITVX.
