Mike Greenberg Early Life and Career Beginnings
On August 6, 1967, Michael Robinette Greenberg was born in New York City. After completing his studies at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, he began working as a sports reporter and anchor in Chicago.
He began reporting for SportsChannel Chicago in 1993 and authored a weekly syndicated piece for the California-based Copley News Service from 1993 to 1995.

Mike Greenberg Professional Career
Greenberg started in radio as a sports anchor for Chicago’s WMAQ-AM. Before joining WSCR-Radio in 1992, he worked for three years as a sports reporter and anchor. Before joining CLTV in 1995 as an anchor, reporter, and host of a live call-in show, Mike had worked for SportsChannel Chicago in 1994.
After leaving the station, Mike Greenberg joined ESPN, where he was among the initial presenters of ESPN NEWS when the show launched in November 1996. He started his career at ESPN Radio in 1999, and since 2004, he has co-hosted Sportscenter.
A year later, he quit the station to start working for ESPN2 in January. After departing from the Mike and Mike program in 2017, Greenberg started working on ESPN’s brand-new morning program Get Up in April 2018.
In addition, he is the author of several books, such as All You Could Ask For, Mike and Mike’s Rules for Sports and Life, and Why My Wife Thinks I’m An Idiot: The Life and Times of a Sportscaster Dad.

He and Golic published “Mike and Mike’s Rules for Sports and Life” in 2010, and Greenberg published a third book, a novel named “All You Could Ask For,” in 2013. He published the book “My Father’s Wives” in 2015.
Together with his wife Stacy, son Stephen, and daughter Nicole, Greenberg resides in Westport, Connecticut. He is an ardent supporter of the New York Yankees, Chicago Bulls, and New York Jets.
