According to his family’s confirmation to Variety, Bill Geddie, the TV news producer best known for his collaboration with Barbara Walters on projects including the development of the daytime talk show “The View,” dἰed at the age of 68 from coronary-related causes.
Geddie had a critical part in creating “The View” as a forum for women of various generations to have important conversations over her 17 years as the show’s executive producer. His collaboration with Walters extended beyond “The View,” as they co-founded BarWall Productions.

Geddie, a well-known person in the TV business, enjoyed life to the fullest. Geddie, who was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1955, started his career in television when he signed on with KOCO, an ABC station. He won four national Emmys over his career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Along with other honors, he has received three NAACP Image Awards for his performance on “The View.” Geddie loved spending time with his family and watching movies in his personal life. He lived in Rancho Mirage, California, with his 44-year-old wife Barbara, and their two kids, Allison and Lauren.
A statement and a picture of Geddie, who received six career Emmy nominations for his work with Walters on The Barbara Walters Summer Special, were posted on the show’s Instagram account:

He was a pioneer in television and greatly beloved by The View family, creating the show with Barbara Walters and serving as its executive producer for 17 years, The View wouldn’t exist without Bill Geddie. ‘He was a big deal in TV, but at home he was an even ‘bigger than life’ husband and dad,’ his family said in a statement. Our love goes out to his wife Barbara and their two daughters, Allison and Lauren.”
